Hi my name is Jennifer Mahoney, and I’ll be your massage therapist, Reiki practitioner and master of relaxation. My passion for helping others, how the body works and science in general started at a young age for me. I was always interested in making sure others were cared for and doing ok. In college I majored in Biology and Applied Chemistry and first made my career in biotech; developing, manufacturing and ensuring the safety of life saving pharmaceuticals.
This path was very satisfying to me for more than 20 years. It allowed me to help patients but behind the scene which made me feel something was missing. I wanted to have a more direct impact in people’s lives.
I began to study Reiki and really fell in love with the idea of a simple healing practice that anyone could learn to help themselves and their friends and family. I thought that I would love to have a business utilizing this wonderful technique but could I be successful? If I built it would they come so to speak? I put that idea on the back burner temporarily, and just used Reiki for myself, my friends and my family. Then I had my first experience with a massage therapist that also knew Reiki and that opened my eyes to a whole new world!
I decided to go back to school and study massage at the Bancroft School of Massage in Worcester nights and weekends all while keeping my full time gig in biotech. During this time, I also continued my Reiki training with a different teacher. I felt drawn to learn more and I found that with each new teacher brings lessons for growth. Once I graduated from massage school I opened ZenGenics Massage & Bodywork in Worcester, practicing massage and Reiki part time while still working fulltime in biotech. This was amazing to be able to help people in different ways. I did that for several years until I decided to leave biotech and focus on my business, moving it to Millbury MA.
It’s important to continue learning new techniques so I have added cupping to my offerings which can be super helpful to quickly release muscle tension gently. Over the years of practicing both massage techniques and Reiki I have begun to combine them into a single session with great results. Recently I was called to study with a third Reiki teacher to learn to teach Reiki and I will begin offering classes to learn Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 in 2025.
On a personal note I am an avid vegetable gardener. I enjoy making jams, ketchup, and other canned yummies from our fresh veggies. I currently tend to 11 hens and a rooster. I love the fresh eggs and entertainment they provide (chicken tv a friend of mine calls it)! I love to hike, kayak, read Sci Fy, watch the Bruins and so much more.
So as you can see I have multiple tools in my toolbox to help my clients relieve stress, anxiety, pain, improve range of motion and their well being overall. I am excited for the next chapter of this healing path I am on, for myself and for you. It truly is an honor to be able to help people on their wellness path.
Come on by and see for yourself what regular massage and Reiki can do for you!
